Tavares, FL (August 7, 2025) - At the August 6 City Council meeting, the City of Tavares officially announced the renaming of its "Nature Parks" to "Nature Preserves". Both "Tavares Nature Park" and "Squibb Nature Park" will now be named "Tavares Nature Preserve" and "Squibb Nature Preserve". This change reflects the city's strategic focus on long-term environmental stewardship and preserving critical natural resources within the community.
The newly renamed Tavares Nature Preserve covers over 100 acres of protected wetlands and provides an essential habitat for native wildlife. The preserve includes passive features, such as walking nature trails and educational signs promoting environmental awareness and responsible outdoor use. This renaming is more than symbolic," said Mayor Walter Price. "It represents our dedication to protecting this unique natural space and ensuring it remains a sanctuary for future generations."
These efforts highlight the city's commitment to maintaining the preserve's ecological integrity while offering residents and visitors an enriching natural experience.
