Responsibilities

As the City's record-keeping officer, the City Clerk is responsible for the preparation, execution, and archiving of all City Council documents as prescribed by State law and City Code.  Some of the other services the City Clerk provides are as follows:

How do I request public records from the City of Tavares?

Public records, City Council resolutions and ordinances, and other City documents can be requested by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at 352.742.6209 or email Susie Novack, City Clerk, at susie.novack@tavaresfl.gov. 

  • CITY RECORDS: The City Clerk’s office is available to assist you with your public records requests.  To expedite your request, please mail/visit the City Clerk’s office, 2nd floor, Tavares City Hall, 201 E Main Street, call 352.742.6279 or 352.742.6209, Email City Clerk, or complete the online form.
  • POLICE RECORDS: Police Department public records requests should be submitted to the Records Department. Email Records, call (352) 742-6200, mail/visit 911 Gateway Drive, Tavares, Florida 32778, or complete the online form.
  • POLICE AND FIRE PENSION FUND RECORDS; To obtain the City of Tavares Police Officers’ Pension Trust Fund and City of Tavares Firefighters’ Pension Trust Fund please email Foster and Foster, Inc. at troy.jenne@foster-foster.com

Lien Search Requests

To submit a lien search request to the City, please complete an Online Lien Search Request Form. Lien searches include information on city utilities, open code enforcement cases, open building permits and special assessments including back-up material. For additional questions please contact the City Clerk at (352) 742-6209.

The City of Tavares welcomes participation from ministers, lay ministers, priests, rabbis, reverends, and other heads of religious organizations to participate in City Council meetings by volunteering to open the meeting with an invocation. 

The meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Tavares City Hall, 201 E. Main Street, Tavares, FL.

Biography

Ms. Novack joined the Tavares Team in February 2002.  Before coming to Tavares, she worked in general and commercial aviation and holds a private pilot's license.  Ms. Novack holds certifications as a Master Municipal Clerk and a Florida Certified Records Manager.  She is active in the Florida Association of City Clerks and has served on the Legislative Committee, Conference Committee, Membership Committee, Nominating Committee, and Presidents Florida Certification Task Force.  Ms. Novack is past President of the Lake County Municipal Clerks Association (2018-2024) and serves on the IIMC 2025 Conference Committee. 

Professional affiliations include the Florida Association of City Clerks (FACC), International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Florida Records Management Association (FRMA), and Lake County Municipal Clerks Association.
