WEDNESDAY MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

As your Mayor, I want to assure you the city is prepared for the landfall of Hurricane Milton. Please stay indoors. Now is the time to hunker down. The safety of our residents, businesses, and employees is always our number one priority. If you are in a mobile home, please seek shelter in our many shelters throughout the county.

·         Lake County has opened 15 shelters for those who need accommodations during the storm. The nearest shelter to Tavares is Tavares High School, located at 603 N. New Hampshire Ave. Residents are encouraged to bring necessary supplies such as medication, bedding, and a pet carrier or crate. For more information, please call the Citizens Information Line at 352-253-9999.

·         For continued Lake County Emergency Management updates, go to www.lakecountyfl.gov

·         Throughout the event, if you need additional information or have special needs, please call the Lake County Emergency Operations Center Citizen Hotline at 352.253.9999. If you have a police, fire, or medical emergency, please call 911.

·         Visit trusted social media sources Lake County Florida Emergency Management and US NWS Melbourne Florida

Please know our Police and Fire Department work closely with the Lake County Emergency Operations Center to keep our residents safe.

Sincerely,

Bob Grenier, Mayor
